Have you ever pondered that question? If you were to buy a car (not necessarily a new one), and your choice was between the two, which would you prefer? I realize that’s not a simple question to answer. Particularly since there are multiple models for each make, presumably to suit all ages and budgets.

this is probably old news for many, but merely confirms many beliefs about the profile or bmw and merc drivers. interesting to note that accountants prefer bimmers in the US.

BMW Ranked Most Sustainable Automaker

source site – BMW Ranked Most Sustainable Automaker | Green Blog & Discussion at Automobile Magazine and BMW Group is once again most sustainable automotive company

The BMW Group is the only company in its industry to have been listed in this important collection of corporate sustainability indexes every year since they were established in 1999. The BMW Group’s Board of Management defined sustainability as a key corporate principle back in 2000. Sustainability throughout the value chain, comprehensive product responsibility and consistent conservation of resources are firmly anchored in the company’s processes. The BMW Group is using its strategy for sustainable mobility – which encompasses efficiency increases and further electrification of the power train through to the long-term use of hydrogen – to reduce the CO2 emissions of its entire vehicle fleet. Production sites are minimising their environmental impact and conserving resources. High social standards for the employees of the BMW Group have also been implemented at all locations for decades. Monticello Motor Club, USA – A Country Club Paradise For Racing

source site – A Driver’s Paradise – A Country Club For Racing – AutoSpies Auto News

I read about a Country Club in New York designed for people who like to drive fast cars, fast. Some people join country clubs for golf, in the case of the Monticello Motor Club, you join to drive fast.

Built at the site of a retired airport, developers have designed a race track with over 400 feet in elevation change, a sweeping corner with a 8 degree bank, and a straightaway capable of blasts up to 200 MPH.

Sound to good to be true? Well it is and it isn’t.

this looks like an interesting place. why can’t car enthusiasts have a country club like the golfers do? perhaps i need to do a bit of research on the appropriate model and economics of doing so. i believe there is a market, but a very small one, so only one country club might be doable at the moment.

Chris Bangle at TED.com – an insight to BMW’s design spirit

I managed to stumble on this great video of Chris Bangle at TED.com relating to the BMW design philosophy and spirit. This was done in 2002 and i believe is quite relevant for the new age design and technology approaches for the 21st century.

i like the way bangle creates an environment to unleash creative forces of his people. some food for thought for those of us challenged by new problems of change and innovation.
