Over the past few weeks we’ve beaten you to a pulp with lists. We laid down list after list in our 2008 Year in Review and even gave you Ten People to Watch in 2009. And while you might think that’s enough. That you never want to read another list from the staff of FSR again, we must disagree. Because if you ask anyone in the film industry, the year doesn’t begin until we’ve properly dictated to you our most anticipated movies of the next 12 months. Seriously, ask anyone. They will tell you that anticipation cannot exist without a road map. And said map must be provided by the staff here at FSR. It’s science. With that in mind, please feel free to read, enjoy and comment on our list of The 25 Most Anticipated Movies of 2009, in chronological order.

Sleep Dealer – indie sci-fi to watch

If you’re a fan of early sci-fi indie films like Shane Carruth’s PRIMER and Darren Aronofsky’s PI then Sleep Dealer is right up your alley, its like a Mexican Matrix or THX 1138.

the concept is quite interesting: in a world where borders are broken down by communications and internet… some other borders (such as human migration) remain firmly shut. yet, with technology – certain nations can access these human resources but without having to deal with the cultural issues associated to migratory groups.

the trailer indicates a almost dystopian future in the manner of The Matrix, and Blader Runner.

Musical tastes in tune with who you are

Fans of heavy metal music are gentle, creative people who are at ease with themselves, which makes them very similar to fans of classical music.

That’s the finding of a new study at Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University of the link between peoples’ personalities and their choice of music.

Adrian North, the professor behind the study, said he was surprised at the similarities between fans of classical music and heavy metal, especially their creativity and generally shy natures.

“The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and of being a danger to themselves and society in general. But they are quite delicate things,” he said in an interview with the BBC.

i thought this was a little peculiar that heavy metal are gentle creative people… interesting. i like a bit of rock, pop, classical and new age… so what does that make me?
